Philip Spivey - Showjumping

On finishing school, Philips’ career with horses began in Sheffield where he trained with Ronnie Massarella for two years during which time he obtained his BHSAI.
Philip then worked for two years for Robert Smith where he became stable jockey to his string of show jumpers. Philip then left for Belgium to work for their leading showjumper Ludo Philiparts. Ludo taught Philip the European methods of working and training their horses, both on the flat and over fences.
Wanting to apply his knowledge and technique, Philip moved to South Africa to ride and teach before returning to England to set up his own yard to train and produce young horses for both himself and other owners.
Philip's first taste of International Success came when he took the runner-up place in the Grand Prix in the CSI-B in Machelen , Belgium . Philip was also placed in the Belgium National Championships and in the Speed Grand Prix at Antwerp .
Philip has earned many successes in his career so far. He was selected to represent Great Britain in the CSI-B in New Delhi in 1998 when he returned with a second placing, Great Britain Team Gold and Individual Gold in the Grand prix.
Philip has enjoyed numerous successes, with 2005 being a notable year as Philip and his string of horses achieved no less than three championships. Philip and Worlds Fair became the Walwyn Novice Champions at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, and at the CSI in Le Touquet, Philip and Romanov took the Overall 7 Year Old Championship. Finally, the most prized award became Philips in October 2005, when he and Romanov became Horse & Hound Foxhunter Champions at the Horse of the Year Show.
